Learn More About Michelle...

By the age of 21 Michelle was bringing humanitarian aid to war torn zones across the global, such as Somalia, Kenya, Rwanda, Kosovo and Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo). As she watched the suffering people, crammed into these villages filled with terror and pain, she started seeing a pattern. Peoples behaviours and responses to this terrible, powerless situation seemed to fall into distinct clusters or patterns and their ability to cope and have hope appeared dependant upon which of these patterns they spent most of their time operating in.

After coming back to Australia, Michelle’s desire to help others through conflict and development led her into the corporate sphere with human resources and consulting. In this space she continues to help individuals and organisations, empowering them to move through the phases of change – which inevitably begins with suffering and can progress towards thriving where they can be the captain of their destiny.

During her 20 years in the corporate world, Michelle noticed that the same patterns she observed in war zone were appearing in workplaces. People whose thought process reinforced they were victims and were powerless to end their suffering were less likely to have hope and find ways to engage in behaviours that were beneficial to them. Those whose mindset was they were in control, believed positive things would happen and applied a ‘can do’ approach, seems to thrive.

Contemplating the similarities led her to develop the Mindset Mastery Model – a method by which people can train themselves to shift their thought processes out of the ‘sufferer’ mindset and progress through ‘survivor, passenger and driver’ up to the ultimate goal of having a ‘thriver’ mindset.
